I'm a little envious of my mainland countrymen - they get 10 days off! Though, most of the time is used to travel back to their home village which could be way way WAY into the country.

If you want to get published, there are better ways than with TP. The internet is a nice leveling field and inexpensive to boot. Heck, there are even sites that will setup your comic FOR YOU, so you don't even really have to learn html or coding or design past characters and page layouts. And I'm sure it's pretty damn easy to google a packaged layout if you do want to dabble. Or build your own.

I've been really bad lately in putting things off that need to get done. For instance, a few sweaters that I've been wanting to wear needed dry cleaning - and it took me nearly a MONTH to accomplish that. Ah, priorities. (...and procrastination)

This afternoon I took my car in for a badly needed oil change. I was really pushing the limit in how much was left. Got the oil, got the appointment, and 30min later (since no dripping of old oil was needed) I was on my way. Now, sometimes when you get your car back from the garage it smells a little - like grease and other car workings. But that usually goes away, so while I was driving away from the garage I didn't pay too much attention to it. Driving along though, it didn't quite go away, but I chalked it up to the smell from the cars in front of me. I opened the moonroof to circulate and clear the air. Then the oil pressure light came on.

And then I really noticed that it smelled like burning. Burning oil.

Off to the next best stop I go... which luckily was an open mall lot. Dug out the manual - and that light should NOT be on while the car is running! Hmm! Call back the garage and they say to get myself towed back. Call CAA and wait 40min for them to arrive. Luckily there was a Chapters to keep me occupied. The tow truck guy was funny¹... a bit of a hick. Kept repeating himself like how I'm lucky the indicator light worked, good thing I was paying attention, how I was running on residual oil and thats what was burning, that I shouldn't trust little garages and go to a Jiffy/Penzoil/CanadianTire instead, that I should be a little more than peeved that this happened etc.etc.etc. I think he was surprised that I was calm about it all. He was fairly pessimistic that my mechanic wouldn't stick around to fix my car, but he gets points for worrying about how I would get home.

Though it was amusing the tow truck driver is not a car guy. In fact, I think I know more about cars than he does XP But I kept that to myself :3

Get back to the garage and the lights are still on, and almost the full compliment of mechanics are still there. Head guy comes out and gets my car in the back right away. Comes out and explains to me that it was his oops, an oversight that he's noticed after cars have had their oil change from CanadianTire (which was where I had it last - in Ottawa no less). Something about how they always seem to stick the ring for oil filter on top, and if you didn't know to remove it, when you put the new oil filter + ring in it creates a double seal and then oil actually leaks out.

This was quite evidenced by the puddle of oil outside where my car sat when I first picked it up. Well, I learned something. (° _ °)?

But! Car's all better. Lots of oil. Now, if only gas prices wouldn't keep rising...

1 - He even had to run into HomeDepot to get a hook or something because his broke and was trailing around behind him? Well, he said he could get a ticket for it. He also said I should tighten my tires after going 50-60km on it post tire change. *shrug*

I've barely watched any of the nominated movies... BUT Jon Stewart is hosting! So, if I had watched more movies it would be a double win, but I'll settle for the single.

In other work-related news: my calculator is possessed.
I turn it off, and it turns itself back on. Now, I used to think that this was because stuff would fall on it in my drawer turning it on again. But today I was proved wrong. I had it out on my desk, moved it aside where nothing touched it, and turned it off. Maybe 5min later I catch a flicker of movement out of the corner of my eye - and the calculator is on. Ok, maybe I forgot to turn it off. Hit the Off button, go back to work. Again with the flicker. It's on. (o__o;;) Ok. I hit the Off button a few times, for good measure, and go back to work. Flicker. On.

...and no, it has NO solar panels.

My calculator is possessed.

I've yet to get myself a 2008 calendar yet. I actually prefer using a planner to keep track of my days, but a calendar is nice desk and wall candy dressing*. Even though I look at a calendar's body of work before I pick it, I've discovered that my decision hinges on whether or not I like the choice for my birth month. Who knew?
